Sport Photo-Finish and Timing system

Powerful Sports Timing System

We offer fully automatic timing systems for almost every sport with a finish line.

Track & Field

FinishLynx timing systems can capture high-speed photo-finishes at up to 20,000 frames per second, with accuracy to 0.0001. All photo-finish images are time-stamped so you can evaluate athletes with accuracy, no matter how close the finish. The power and precision of FinishLynx has made it the gold standard for track and field results for 25+ years. FinishLynx photo-finish cameras can now be found in thousands of athletics stadiums across 5 continents, and our timing systems are trusted by elite-level IAAF track meets around the world.

Velodrome, Road Cycling, BMX

FinishLynx timing systems produce UCI-approved photo-finish results and are used at the very highest levels of Road Cycling, Velodrome, and BMX Racing. World-Class venues like Beijing National Stadium and the Velódromo Mallorca (site of the UCI World Championships) trust their photo-finish results to FinishLynx technology.

Speed Skating, Roller Skating, Ice Skating

FinishLynx timing systems produce ISU-approved photo-finish results and have been used for years at major Short Track and Long Track Speed Skating events. Our photo-finish cameras can be found in major skating venues across the world, including many former ISU World Cup facilities. That’s why more speed skating events and venues trust their photo-finish results to FinishLynx technology.

Canoeing, Rowing, Regatta

WFinishLynx automatic timing systems capture professional photo-finish results images that exceed all FISA, ICF, and ACRA standards. That is why our photo-finish packages are trusted by elite rowing, paddling, canoe, kayak, and dragon boat organizations across the world.

How FinishLynx Cameras Work

True line-scan photo finish systems are based on our specially designed cameras that take incredibly thin “line” pictures rather than the usual 2-dimensional frame picture taken by a normal camera. It is, if you like, the furthest it is possible to get away from a “panorama” view. The “line of image” that is recorded is a picture of the finish line and nothing else. These photo finish images of the finish line are taken many hundreds of times a second and displayed on the screen side by side. A FinishLynx photo finish picture is actually comprised of these incredibly thin individual images of the finish line – and the activity that was taking place at that split second – placed one next to another.
