TRACKEYE

TrackEye is the world leading system for advanced motion analysis on military test ranges. It has the highest available accuracy for analysis in two, three or six dimensions in applications such as Tracking Mount 3D, Fixed Camera 3D or Stores Release.

TrackEye covers the entire process from digitizing images (film or video) through automatic tracking and advanced motion analysis to a complete predefined report. The comprehensive functionality handles tracking in several levels, from 2D, 3D and 6D to the most sophisticated range motion analysis tracking requirements.

  • 6 DoF ANALYSIS

The position of a rigid body can be described with six parameters: three positions coordinates (x, y and z), which gives the position of a specific point on the body, and three attitude angles (roll, pitch and yaw), which gives the orientation in space.

The term 6DOF, or 6D position of the body, refers to these six parameters. Using Six Degrees of Freedom (6DOF), also known as 6-dimensional (6D) motion tracking, it is possible to compute and analyze the position and orientation of a rigid body using only a single camera.

6DOF is available as an option to TEMA and TrackEye Motion Analysis Software. Application areas include aerospace, military & defense, product development / R&D and motion analysis scenarios where fitting several cameras is impossible.

  • ARENA

ARENA is a combination of dedicated statistics modules in TrackEye to optimize the usability and the repeatability of arena testing. During an arena test, the ARENA tracking session collects inputs from one or several cameras monitoring a single or multiple screens which are pierced by shrapnel and particles. The location and timing of each piercing is recorded.

  • MIRROR TRACKER

Mirror Trackers, such as the Trajectory Tracker(from Specialized Imaging) and the Flight Follower (from DRS) provides images of ballistic and non-ballistic projectiles using a high speed camera in combination with a rotating mirror to follow the flight path. Mirror Trackers in combination with Image System ́s Mirror Tracker analysis software allows for detailed visual observation of the projectile as well as advanced analysis of the data derived.

  • PROJECTILE ORIENTATION MEASUREMENT (POM)

The Projectile Orientation Measurement system has been specially developed to perform a real time measurement of the 3D position and orientation (pitch and yaw offset angles relative to the line of fire) of a projectile in flight. Heart of system is  a  frame  consisting  of  two  calibrated  cameras  placed  at  a  90  degree  angle  with  two  opposing  flashing  light  sources.

Cameras and light flashes are simultaneously triggered by real time light gates to create and capture one shadow image for each view of the approaching bullet. The systems supports testing stems.

  • STORES RELEASE

Verifying the simulated behaviour of a store during flight test is a technically complex issue. Using TrackEye Stores Release 6DoF makes the task easy, even with only one camera, to analyze and obtain time stamped complete 6DoF data. The 6D (six degrees of freedom, 6DoF) optional add-on package for TrackEye provides functionality for computing the position (x, y, z) as well as the attitude (roll, pitch, yaw) of one or more rigid objects, which are observed by at least one camera.

  • TRACKING MOUNT

Many military test ranges worldwide deal with the measuring of position and attitude of moving objects using dedicated tracking mounts which can follow objects at large distances. The main feature to be measured for these studies is the 3D position of the object at different times. Using the 3D position data all kinds of analysis can be performed, e.g. calculating the distance between a missile and a target. Several tracking mounts can be used, positioned at different locations. Recording the direction to the object  from different angles results in high accuracy 3D positions. An important tool to obtain this accuracy is TrackEye. The program tracks  objects  in  images  automatically,  handles  the  positions  of  the  tracking  mounts, integrate  different  calibrations  and  corresponding corrections, transforms coordinate systems and calculates the position for all objects.

DIGITAL IMAGE CORRELATION (DIC)

When designing any mechanical system, knowledge of the properties of the used material is crucial. To gain such knowledge, accurate measurements of the material’s strain and deformation can be done. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is an optical, non-contact, full-field-deformation analysis method, based on monochromatic digital images, which can determine strain and deformation of an object under load.

With TEMA DIC it is possible to accurately measure full strain fields and extensometer strains over a complete surface. This allows for non-contact measurements of strain, allowing analysis of the material properties, without affecting the result through contact. TEMA DIC comes as a tracker option to TEMA.

TEMA DIC System is a complete system solution including all the required hardware and software for non-contact optical analysis for surface strain and displacement.

TEMA DIC and TEMA DIC System comes in a 2D and a Stereo version. The Stereo version has 2 cameras and is capable of measuring surface strain & deformation.

  • DIC 2D

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is a full-field image analysis method, based on grey value digital images, that can determine the contour and the displacements of an object under load. DIC is very effective at mapping deformation in macroscopic mechanical testing, where the application of a speckle pattern provides the needed contrast to correlate images

Stereo DIC is suitable for measuring deformation and movement in a surface that is irregular, has any movement that is not planar or similar deformities. If all movement happens in one plane, DIC 2D works well. For other cases where for example a plate is bending, tire is compressed, helmet or another round object is impacted, it is a case that is well suited for Stereo DIC.

  • DIC STEREO

Stereo DIC is based on our DIC tracker which is stand-alone tracker in the software along with many other being used under TEMA/TrackEye. All the baseline architecture and tools remain the same as for the other trackers’ framework.

The Stereo version of DIC uses two cameras to pin-point the 3D-coordinates of all points in an area of a surface, this allows for 3D and 2D measuring of full field displacement and strain. The sophisticated algorithms calculate the complete strain tensors for the full-field solution, including many different strain formulations, such as Green-Lagrange, Euler-Almansi and Cauchy strain tensors. The camera calibration is done as in other applications, using a target or multiple points and a known distance.

Points of Interest, Inspection lines and Virtual Extensometers can be placed on the surface to measure strain at specific points or along specific lines. The Virtual Extensometer is similar to an actual extensometer and measures the distance between two points to achieve extension and engineering strain.

As qualifying data there is the sigma value, which indicates how well the correlation matched the different points. This variable can be displayed in a color diagram for easy overview of the worst areas.
